Let’s get this out of the way first. I’m a libertarian. Not a conservative and definitely not a liberal.

Since the overall theme of this site is Republican, I thought it’s important to identify myself. Do I have conservative viewpoints? Of course, I do. But I also have liberal viewpoints. However, I get along swimmingly with Republicans, whereas I tend to butt heads with Democrats. And “butting heads” is saying it in a nice way. I find so many of them bitter, acting morally superior, and sanctimonious. I don’t know why. I can’t believe it’s my fault. But they’re people – my people: Earthlings – and I respect and encourage discussion on ANY topic. And hey, liberals! Let’s remain friends(?)… but let’s keep the bitterness, moral superiority, and sanctimony to a minimum, eh?

I’m self-employed but retirement is racing up quickly to smack me in the face. I wish it could happen yesterday. I could use a good slap.

I’m in fairly decent shape. I work out at the gym no less than five days a week… usually seven days. And by work out I’m talking about strength training alternating days of upper body and lower body. But I’m on the treadmill – to the point of sweating – every day. But I’M NOT FANATICAL ABOUT ANY OF IT!

I’m divorced – SURPRISE! – and should be living alone. But I don’t. One adult son lives with me. (Special needs). And a daughter and another son act like my house is their house. Someday I’ll change the locks.

I’m a reader… so you should be too. I’m not talking every waking moment, but I don’t understand people (men or women) who aren’t in the middle of reading something at all times.

I’m a writer. And damn, wouldn’t it be great if you were too. Not a requirement; just an ideal. If you know what WIP means (and not the old AM radio station) we really could have a future. I fantasize about getting and giving feedback on each other’s written word while we… I’ll leave that there.

I have a dog. If you don’t like dogs, there’s plenty of other guys out there. Keep looking.

Music. A big part of my life. I dance like a zombie (when I get forced – literally forced – out onto a dancefloor) and I can’t play any musical instrument…proficiently. Back practicing the piano (it’s what I call my Casio keyboard) and someday I’ll be able to play a Solace by heart. You need to enjoy going to concerts and music festivals with me. Not tolerate them. Enjoy them.

I have very pedestrian tastes in foods. I’ll try – almost – anything once, and I’ll be kind if you tempt me with something that I really don’t like. Just a heads-up.

That’s it. Time for a texting adventure, followed by a phone adventure, followed by a lunch.

My second idea of fun is probably the same as yours. You want to travel, see new things, have new experiences, go to shows, music venues, street fairs, fight in unnecessary and unpopular foreign wars, baking, hanging out on a beach. You know, ordinary stuff.
