I Would Describe Myself As
I'm a mother, grandmother, author, and world traveler, with a glass half-full way of looking at life. An extroverted introvert, I have the ability to "turn on" when the occasion calls for it, while much preferring quiet time spent with family and close friends over large gatherings with too many people I don't know.
And while "cozy" is my favorite word and curling up beside someone special watching movies is my favorite way to spend a rainy afternoon, I've logged quite a few miles in international travel. Exploring new countries and cultures is a passion of mine. So far, I've visited over a dozen countries and even lived in Ireland for a few years. And while I've cuddled a sloth in Panama and gone humpback whale watching in Costa Rica, my craziest travel experience thus far has to be the time I landed in Bangkok to discover that the country was under a military coup. The media warned the public to stay away from Lumpini Park, where allegedly militant protesters had set up a tent city. So that was, of course, the first place we headed the following morning to investigate the claims. What a delight the locals there were, returning our smiles and waving at us while cooking their breakfasts over open campfires.
My professional career included founding a charity serving missing, abused, and suicidal kids where I served as Executive Director for almost two decades. In that capacity, I acted as a consultant for the Justice Department and the ABA, was invited to the White House on three separate occasions, and was interviewed regularly by both local and national news media. After retiring from my charity work, I formed an Indie publishing company, where I author my work and assist new writers in realizing their own dreams of seeing their books in print.
My family is my life's greatest blessing, second only to my close and intimate relationship with God, whose goodness I've seen so many times in my life that I've come to expect nothing less from Him. A couple of summers ago, I published a book about healing miracles I witnessed in my own living room many years ago. That book, by God's grace, became an Amazon #1 Bestseller in its genre.
IIn relationshios, I've always looked for a best friend first, someone who gets me and can make me laugh. A person who loves me, not just in spite of my quirks and eccentricities but because of them even more.
