I grew up in Gary, IN, graduated from high school in 1961, and from Indiana University (IU) in 1965. Earned college degrees in Industrial Sociology and Labor Economics. Served five years in the Navy -- 1-1/2 years as an enlisted man and 3-1/2 years as a Naval Supply Officer. Served in VietNam for a year. Earned an MBA in Finance from IU in 1975. I retired at age 43 as a Partner from an investment counseling firm in Chicago -- bought out by a large east coast insurance company. I was head of Corporate Bond Research and managed a High-Yield Bond Fund. Since retiring, I have traveled extensively (Hawaii; New Mexico; Texas; Florida; California; Maine; Washington, D.C.; Israel; Greece; the Greek Isles; Rome; Turkey; cruising, etc.), played a lot of golf, read a lot of books, seen a lot of movies, and enjoyed many museums and historical sites. A pleasant day for me (Spring thru' Fall) is a day at Brown County State Park, and perhaps a walk through downtown Nashville. Finally, I have a good sense of humor and am financially stable. About the one I'm looking for... I am looking for an easy going woman who wants to spend quality time with a gentleman with similar interests, "preferably" within 75-100 miles of Bloomington. Also, no game players please -- I am a loyal partner who values openness and total truthfulness in communications. I only want to hear from women not currently in a relationship -- I am a one woman man, and, therefore, I don't participate in competitive dating, neither as the auditioner nor as one of the contestants. Finally, one thing that is a big turnoff for me is self-absorbed people. I'm not saying I'm not interested in you, your day, or what you've done or are doing. What I'm saying is I believe two people should have listening ears and caring hearts and both share their lives with each other. I'm not interested in a one-sided relationship. Been there, done that. I'd just like to add... My favorite music is Oldies ('50s & '60s), Broadway Musicals, and Classical Music. My favorite stage performances have been Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, and Scheherazade. I enjoy live concerts and the theater. My favorite TV shows include Blue Bloods, Madam Secretary, The Blacklist, This is Us, Designated Survivor, Mr. Robot, Halt & Catch Fire, and Major Crimes. I also watch golf, hockey, college football/basketball, and Chicago Cubs baseball. (But I am not a couch potato; I record most everything to a DVR, and watch when time permits.) I like historically-based movies, and action/dramas. My favorite reads are History and Historical Biographies. Favorite places to dine are Chili's, Texas Roadhouse, O'Charley's, Longhorn Steakhouse, etc. One needs to be cautious when looking at a potential partner's stated income: One can be rich in non-income producing assets (precious metals, land holdings, etc.), which would then vastly understate his actual-potential income level; these high net worth assets would not be reflected anywhere in the profile. Finally, full disclosure -- I am a Type II diabetic (2001) and have an artificial aortic heart valve (1985), neither of which hinders my activities to a significant degree.
